Introduction

Oecophylla superba is an extinct weaver ant known only from fossil specimens in Oligocene deposits in Kleinkembs, France . Described in 1937 by Théobald based on queen remains , this species lived about 23-34 million years ago and has no living descendants . Weaver ants are known for weaving leaves with larval silk to build nests , but O. superba is long extinct, so you cannot keep it as a pet.
