Introduction

Oecophylla taurica is an extinct weaver ant species known from fossil remains in Crimea, Russia, dating to the Middle Miocene (16.5-15.5 million years ago) . The species is identified from forewing imprints with a length of approximately 7.6 mm and diagnostic characters such as a concave vein 5RS . It is smaller than modern Oecophylla species . This fossil provides one of the few records of the genus Oecophylla, offering insights into ant evolution .
